Miracle on Elm Street

At about 2:00 this afternoon I received my new computer.  The tech guy kept the hard drive out of Phineas who is now just a shell of his former self.  Anyone have suggestions about what to do with the corpse?  I’m keeping the hard drive as there is some gadget I can get to be able to use it as an external drive.  Or something.

I just downloaded iTunes, and I am thrilled that my music from the old computer is appearing on this one.  Maybe others find this mundane, but it’s a little bit of a miracle to me.  As is the fact that all of the work on Phineas was recovered.

My Vaio has a ruby red shell.  I just have to figure out a name, now.  I’m sort of crazy for Phineas as my computer name, but I don’t want to burden a new computer with an already-used name.  Ideas?

  1. “Iris is the personal messenger of Hera, queen of the gods. She is Hera’s agent from Mount Olympus to the mortal world. She is also associated with Hermes, another messenger god.”
“They succeeded in driving the monsters away but did not kill them, as a request from the goddess of the rainbow, Iris, who promised that Phineas would not be bothered by the harpies again”
    from wikipedia….
    I vote IRIS.

  2. See, I would just go with Ruby and you can sing the Kaiser Chiefs song all the time while you type along. That and I really, really like the name Ruby. Shame, I’m not having any more kiddos.

  3. Huzzah for having all your music and work! I can only imagine the extent to which you were on pins and needles until you got the new computer. (At any rate, I know I would be…)
My knee-jerk reaction to the naming issue was Ruby, too. Iris is a really neat suggestion, though, too. I also like Hermes.
I’ll respond more fully to your e-mail soon, but for now, thanks so much for your encouragement! 🙂

  4. Do you want a male or a female name?
I agree with Ruby for a female, Ares for a male. (Ares being the corresponding Greek god, to Mars (the red planet) being the Roman one.
And for a neutral name… Antares. A Giant Red star in the constellation of Scorpio. Which is my sign. Although I found this name on a list of names when I searched for Red and Names. 🙂

  5. Not sure of the spelling, but it’s the Hawaiian volcano god, Pelee? You know, red hot and fiery.
As for the old shell, maybe see if your local high school would take it for their tech lab kids to work on, rebuild or use for parts.
